The Penn State Walk-On: Overcoming the Pain and Legacy of Suicide through Football, Faith, and Family by Sue and Tim Iorio tells the heartbreaking -- but ultimately uplifting -- story of the authors' son, Nick, the oldest of three brothers from a Midwestern town in Ohio. Nick suffered from a mental health disorder, and the only peace he was able to find was through suicide. He died at age twenty.

The story depicts the struggles of this close-knit family after they are shattered by loss and strive to keep their family together through faith in God and the comfort of family and friends. Healing begins when the youngest brother accepts an opportunity to play football at Penn State University as a walk-on.

The Penn State Walk-On is an emotionally and spiritually courageous story, demonstrating one family's determination to honor a lost son and continue moving forward as a family.

This compelling exploration of grief, mental health, suicide, and gun safety represents the cultural conversation a hurting nation can no longer ignore.
